R-134A REFRIGERANT

30 LB (13.6 KG) CYLINDER

Professional Refrigerant for Compatible Automotive A/C & Refrigeration Systems

Professional R-134A Refrigerant

R-134A, also known as 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, is a single-component hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant commonly used in automotive air conditioning and selected refrigeration systems.

With zero ozone depletion potential and ASHRAE A1 safety classification, R-134A has been widely used in compatible passenger vehicle A/C systems, commercial refrigeration, and specialized cooling equipment.

GQSBIKE presents the R-134A 30 LB refrigerant cylinder for professional servicing of equipment specifically designed for R-134A. Always confirm cylinder labeling, net contents, manufacturer documentation, and equipment compatibility before use.

Important: Application suitability depends on the equipment manufacturer, operating requirements, and applicable regulations.

R-134A Refrigerant Technology

R-134A became widely used in automotive air conditioning as an alternative to older ozone-depleting refrigerants such as R-12.

As a single-component refrigerant, R-134A does not experience the composition changes associated with zeotropic refrigerant blends.

R-134A has zero ozone depletion potential, but its global warming potential is relatively high. The use of R-134A is increasingly restricted in certain new equipment and vehicle applications.

R-134A must only be used in systems specifically approved for it. It is not a universal substitute for R-1234yf, R-22, or other refrigerants.

Equipment Compatibility & Servicing

Before servicing, qualified technicians should verify the refrigerant designation on the equipment or vehicle label.

R-134A systems require appropriate service fittings, refrigerant recovery equipment, approved lubricants, and manufacturer-specified charging procedures.

Automotive R-134A systems commonly use application-specific PAG lubricants, while certain stationary refrigeration systems use POE lubricants. Always follow the equipment manufacturer's instructions.

Never mix R-134A with R-1234yf or other refrigerants. Any refrigerant conversion must follow applicable approved procedures.

Safety & Handling Information

R-134A is classified as ASHRAE A1, indicating lower toxicity and no flame propagation under standard test conditions. However, it is a liquefied gas under pressure and requires appropriate safety precautions.

  • Use only in equipment approved for R-134A.
  • Do not mix R-134A with other refrigerants.
  • Use properly rated recovery and service equipment.
  • Store cylinders in a cool, well-ventilated area.
  • Protect cylinders from excessive heat and damage.
  • Avoid contact with liquid refrigerant to prevent frostbite.
  • Do not expose refrigerant to flames or hot surfaces.
  • Follow the current Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
  • Use qualified technicians for refrigeration servicing.
  • Never intentionally vent refrigerant.

Important Purchase Information

R-134A is a regulated HFC refrigerant. Purchasing, servicing, handling, recovery, transportation and disposal must comply with applicable environmental and safety requirements.

In the United States, EPA Section 608 or Section 609 requirements may apply depending on the intended use. Federal HFC restrictions also affect R-134A use in certain new products and motor vehicle applications.

Confirm purchaser eligibility, equipment compatibility, actual cylinder contents, refrigerant labeling, and applicable regulations before sale or use.
